A Jeannette, Pennsylvania postal worker called the post office after becoming trapped on a porch with two aggressive pit bulls. The post office called the police to report the incident. Officers showed up less than a minute later and witnessed the dogs barking at the postal worker.

One of the pit bulls then charged the police who shot the dog dead. The dog's owner then began screaming and yelling at the police. The police state the situation was becoming so unstable that they were going to use their Taser on the dog's owner.

The two-year-old pit bull was not licensed and did not have its rabies shots, so the owner will be cited. The owner calmed down and spoke to local media, claiming he had no idea the dogs were outside. He got them after his home was burglarized and knows the temperament of them, especially the one that was killed, and would never have left them alone in the yard. He is unclear how the dogs got out, but suspects they escaped in "a freak accident" while he was at work.

Pit bulls are consistently the number one dog breed cited as dangerous. Many cities have banned them, while some, like Denver, are considering allowing them into city limits again. However, this has not happened with other breeds many consider dangerous, such as the Rottweiler.
