Tips for Avoiding Motorcycle Accidents

As the summer months approach, there are going to be more and more people hitting the roads on their motorcycles. With more riders getting onto the roads every year, the number of motorcycle accidents also rises. If you are a motorcyclist, paying attention and avoiding a motorcycle accident is the most important things you can do.

Unlike passengers in car accidents who have airbags and the frame of the vehicle to protect them in case of an accident; a motorcyclist is completely vulnerable if they are involved in an accident. Some of the ways motorcycle riders can do to avoid motorcycle accidents include:

·         Wait at least 15 minutes after rain – If it’s been raining outside recently, the moisture can draw out oil and other liquids in the pavement left behind by cars.  When this occurs, the roads can become very slick and riding can be dangerous. By waiting for a few minutes after it rains, you can make sure the roads are dryer and your ride is safer.

 ·         Stay out of blindspots – While this can be impossible sometimes, staying away from the blindspots around other cars will make sure cars see you. Many motorcycle accidents are caused when drivers fail to take small motorcycles into account when driving.

·         Wear bright clothing – Again, wearing brighter clothes or clothing with reflective strips will help you stay visible.

If you’ve suffered an injury after being involved in a motorcycle accident, it’s important that you contact the Accident Lawyers Network to schedule an initial consultation with a motorcycle accident lawyer in your area.
