The Accident Lawyers Network BlogAccident Lawyers NetworkFriday, February 20, 2009Six Killed in SUV AccidentSix Bay Area people, including some students, were killed in a single vehicle accident yesterday afternoon. Authorities have said the driver lost control of her Toyota 4Runner and hit a tree on Highway 101 near Los Alamos, California. The SUV then burst into flames. A witness to the accident said the SUV began to drift to the left, into a dirt divider, and then the driver overcorrected. The overcorrection caused the SUV to leave the road where it began to roll before hitting a tree with its roof. It then spun 180-degrees and came to rest on its wheels. The witness was able to pull the driver out before the 4Runner caught fire. Two of the six killed were ejected, while the other four were trapped in the burning vehicle. The driver is currently in critical condition in a Santa Maria hospital. Five of the dead were foreign nationals attending school in the Bay Area.
