Explosion Aboard Boat Kills One

One man was killed when the boat he lived on exploded at the Pittsburg, California arena early this morning. The explosion was so great that it consumed the boat and damaged several other boats nearby.

Contra Costa fire personnel received at call just after 1:00am reporting the fire. When they got there, people who live on nearby boats were trying to keep the blaze from spreading. However, four other boats were damaged, one of them heavily.

While the investigation is still underway, it is believed the explosion was caused by an oxygen tank. The damage to the other boats and marina is close to $200,000.
