Gray reportedly lost control of his Honda Rebel, hit the guardrail and flipped into a ravine. Gray suffered a broken leg, broken pelvis, and lost a significant amount of blood. He was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. Charlie Brooks, who was with Gray at the time of the accident, says Gray was 200 to 300 yards in front of him and only traveling about 35 mph when he hit the guardrail while going around a curve. Brooks says Gray hadn't been riding motorcycles for very long, but wasn't inexperienced either. Gray was wearing a helmet, which probably saved his life.
