The boy was allegedly sitting on his grandmother's lap at the time of the accident. She was driving the 1996 Toyota Camry at a low speed when it hit the house 40 feet from the street. The boy's other grandmother says the boy should have been in the back seat. "As far as I am concerned, she killed him." Airbags deployed during the automobile accident, but there was no car seat for the boy found in the Camry, and his grandmother was not wearing her seatbelt. While the grandmother is being tested for drugs and alcohol, the police do not think that was a factor in the crash. However, she was driving on a suspended license. The police have once again had to state the obvious: that it is unsafe to drive with a small child in the front seat or on your lap.
